We’ve been in Chiapas, Mexico for just under two weeks now and honestly… it’s been so cool. Like the kind of cool where you’re exhausted and overwhelmed but also can’t believe you get to be here. We started with a full week of training, and when I say full, I mean packed. Classes on culture, evangelism, spiritual warfare, and a million other things that made my brain hurt but in a good way.
On top of that (because apparently we don’t rest), we’re living at an orphanage. Which means lots of time loving on the kids here. Playing games, laughing, getting climbed on like a jungle gym, and just hanging out with some of the sweetest humans I’ve ever met. They are pure joy and have completely wrecked my heart already.
One of the coolest experiences so far was getting to go up into the coffee fields here in Chiapas. We got to see the entire process — like from literal coffee plant to cup. It really hits different when you realize how much work goes into that latte you casually drink every morning. It was eye-opening and honestly just really cool.
Because of that, I’ve also gotten the opportunity to intern with a business called Broken Rib Coffee, which I’m super excited about. They buy fair-trade coffee directly from farmers here in Chiapas and sell it in the States and here’s the wild part 100% of the proceeds go back into building houses, providing education for kids in Mexico, loving on orphans, and supporting the farmers by equipping them for long-term success and empowerment.
Three days a week we have classes focused on marketing, sales, and business for Broken Rib Coffee. We’re learning how to use social media as a marketing platform and how business can actually be used to further the Kingdom
The other two days of the week we’re with the kids at the orphanage doing English immersion classes. And when I say “classes,” I mean singing songs, playing guitar, sports, games, reading, and just a lot of fellowship. It’s loud, chaotic, joyful, and the best kind of exhausting.
I’m also taking Spanish classes, which mostly consist of me confidently saying the wrong thing and everyone being very kind about it. But it’s helping me connect better with the incredible people here, and I’m slowly learning (emphasis on slowly).
God has been moving SO clearly here but real talk, that also comes with resistance. I’ve had moments of feeling overwhelmed, spiraling, tired, and spiritually attacked. Some days are heavy. But I keep reminding myself that God is good always, even when it’s hard, and He is absolutely at work here.
Also my team??? Elite. Incredible. The best humans. I love all of them and I’m so thankful I get to do this alongside people who love Jesus and love people so well.
Right now, I’m just over 50% funded, and I would absolutely love your support if you feel led to partner with me in continuing to further the Kingdom of God here. Whether that’s prayer, encouragement, or financial support it all means more than you know.
AND if you love coffee (which you should) and love supporting a good cause, I’ll be attaching my Broken Rib Coffee affiliate link. I get 10% of every purchase, and every dollar I earn will go directly toward a specific need at the orphanage.
I’ve also started a travel Instagram account that I’ll link as well, where I’ll be posting videos and pictures from this journey the beautiful moments, the messy ones, and everything in between.
Thank you for reading, praying, supporting, and being part of this with me. I’m so grateful. 🤍
